Are you a Cause-Driven Leader with a passion for youth development? The YMCA of NWNC is looking for
an Program Director to lead our licensed Before and After School and Summer Day Camp programs at the Davie Family YMCA. The position serves children from Kindergarten through 8th Grade.
This position reports directly to the Senior Program Director of Youth Development and is responsible for the management of Before and After School programs, Summer Camp Programs and will also lead special events and assist with school and branch functions.
Other responsibilities will be helping to develop/lead Association Summer Camp and Before/After School training in addition to other duties as needed. The Program Director must exemplify the YMCA values of Caring, Honest, Respect, Responsibility and Faith in all aspects of job performance, and in building and maintaining relationships with school personnel, participants, volunteers and staff. Ideal candidates will have proven success in supervising staff, increasing enrollment, cross promotion of programs, time management skills, and strengthening program quality. This position also has direct fund-raising responsibilities with the Annual Impact Fund and will be expected to solicit donations from staff and the community to meet their individual department goals (set by the Executive Director and Senior Program Director).
Schedule: Must be available Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:00am and 6:00pm. Hours will vary based on the needs of the program.(Must be able to work weekends, evenings, Holidays and/extended hours as necessary).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
● Managing a yearly budget of all related departments to meet fiscal objectives.
● Manage, Train, and develop program staff and volunteers within Youth Development.
● Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information.
● Organize and schedule program registrations.
● Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and participation in programs.
● Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other community organizations.
● Assist in branch fund raising activities and special events.
● Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with Day Camp or Resident Camp is a requirement for this position.
(Required) NC Early Childhood Credential or 2 semester hours in Child Dev + 2 semester hours in School-Age programming BSAC
PLUS one of the following
Level III on the School Age Early Educator Certification Scale
BA/BS degree with 3 semester hours in School-Age studies
6 semester hours of school age study complete (but no degree)
750 hours of licensed school age experience of 900 hours of unlicensed school age experience (this is the most common)
Current CDL license or willingness to obtain immediately is required.
(Preferred) Level II NC Early Childhood Administration Credential or its equivalency and 3 hours in early childhood education or child development; and either 3 years of full-time verifiable early childhood experience in an early childhood center teaching young children; or 3 years of child care administration experience; or a combination AND BSAC training or 750 hours of verifiable experience in a licensed child care program or 1150 hours of verifiable time in an unlicensed school-age care or camp setting.
Preferred candidate will have a 2 or 4 year college degree in recreation management, Elementary Education, or related field and/or experience equivalent.
2-5 years experience preferred.
Able to work with minimal supervision preferred.
Strong Computer proficiency; experience with MS Office preferred.
Strong interpersonal, organization and communication skills are required for this position.
