Primary Purpose of the Position:
Position supervises Permanency Planning (Foster Care) social work staff and Family Time Social Workers who provide direct and/or indirect services to clients. Position determines funding eligibility and oversees data entry into state data tracking systems. Work supervised is predominantly at the level of Social Worker III. Position assigns cases to subordinates, coordinates work flow operations and supervises staff through case review and consultation which requires substantial and recurring technical direction. Position is responsible for staff training, resolving problems and ensuring that quality services are provided. Verification of qualitative supervision includes monthly one-on-one shadowing of staff providing services in the community or elsewhere. Position reports to the Deputy Director of Child Welfare and may provide input to a higher level management on administrative, personnel and budget issues. Position will ensure that state, federal and local standards for child safety and well-being are met, including performance-based budgeting goals for the County; enforcement of policies in the NC Child Welfare Manual and consultation with the DSS attorney.
Work Schedule:
Weekly work hours: 37.5 hours per week. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. However, flexibility and availability to work alternate hours is required. Position will rotate On Call supervisory responsibilities with other Child Welfare supervisors.
Education and Experience:
Five or more years of direct child welfare experience in Permanency Planning (Foster Care) is preferred. Education and experience include a master’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a master’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees will be verified by the accredited school.
Salary: Grade 73 – $51,081.00 (FLSA Exempt)
This is a safety-sensitive position and therefore will be subject to random drug screening
Emergency Shelter Operations: This position may have responsibilities for staffing and providing assistance when public health or emergency shelter plans are implemented.
