General Statement of Duties
Performs skilled manual labor in maintaining all public utilities, streets, and infrastructure in the Town of Mocksville.
Distinguishing Features of the Class
An employee in this class performs manual labor in maintaining streets, public utilities, and downtown projects. Work includes general water and sewer repairs, installing pipes, rebuilding manholes, repairing potholes, snow removal, planting trees and flowers, mowing, bush hogging, and any other associated needs that may arise within the town. The employee uses a variety of specialized power equipment including trackhoe, backhoe, skid steer, dump trucks, tractor, snow plow, packers, and jack hammers. Judgement is required in applying rules, procedures and decisions that may affect the quality and accuracy of the work performed. Employee receives assignments from the supervisor and then develops a plan to complete the work. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Public Services Director and is evaluated through daily observation until completion.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or GED with one to three years experience in water/sewer, plumbing, heavy equipment operations or related labor trade, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Valid North Carolina Driver’s License (working to obtain NC Commercial License)
