          Clerk to the Board / Administrative Assistant
          Description of work: This position involves carrying out crucial administrative and coordination tasks for the Board of Commissioners and County Manager, requiring a high level of responsibility. This position involves serving as the legally accountable Clerk to the Board and performing a wide range of complex administrative tasks to assist the Board of County Commissioners. The work requires creating and maintaining official records, researching and analyzing reports, ensuring compliance with legal board processes, and exercising considerable judgment and independent action. Additionally, the employee establishes office management systems and routines, applies administrative and office management skills, and handles confidential information. The work is supervised by the Board of County Commissioners and the County Manager, with reviews conducted through conferences, observations, completed work, and overall workflow. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

          Recruitment Standards: Thorough knowledge of North Carolina General Statutes and local ordinances governing County Clerk responsibilities. Considerable knowledge of Board and County government organization and functions. Willingness to attend and successfully complete courses from the Institute of Government towards certification as Clerk to the Board; and to become certified by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC).

          Education and Experience: Graduation from a community college with an associate degree in
          business or public administration, finance, paralegal technology, or related degree and considerable administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

          Salary: Grade 66 – $37,029.00 (FLSA Status – Non-Exempt)
